Book Club 2020
Our school is participating in Scholastic Book Clubs this year. Once a term during
the school year we will send home a Club catalogue with a different selection of books offered. You’ll find award-winning books, as well as old and new favourites. I recommend them because the books span a wide range of children’s reading levels and interests and because they are inexpensive (some books cost as little as $2).
It is easy to order. Just look over the catalogue with your child, select the books you want, mark them on the order form on the back of the catalogue, and return the order form to me with payment by the due date. You can also order online via LOOP.
The books will arrive around two weeks after I send the school order to Scholastic.
I hope that you will encourage your child to order books this year. Each order helps earn free books and teaching materials for our school, however there is never any obligation to order.
Teachers have distributed Book Club brochures to their students. If you would like to place an order please return the order forms and payment in an envelope to the Library or order online by Friday 14th February.
Library News Term 1
It’s been lovely meeting all our new students in the library in the last two weeks. Primary classes have Library lessons once a fortnight and Infants classes visit once a week for their lesson. Your child’s classroom teacher will notify you of their Library day so your child can be prepared with a library bag. Only children with an approved Library bag can borrow books to take home. Our school library bag is available for purchase from the office for $11.00. Your child can use this same bag throughout their years at St Andrews Public School. There are many other types of bags that can be used as a Library bag. If you are not sure, please come and see us.
Overdue, Damaged and Lost Items
Our school Library policy, approved by our Executive and Parent Body was implemented in 2013. Part of this document refers to our policy concerning overdue and damaged books.
Students are frequently reminded during class lessons to return overdue books. Oral reminders are followed up by a written note to parents. At the end of each term all resources are to be returned to the library.
Any user who has had a series of 2 overdue notices for the same text, from the library will have their borrowing rights withdrawn until the item is returned or a replacement cost is paid. Any items that have been lost or deemed “damaged beyond repair’ will incur a replacement cost based on the original purchase cost that is accessible through the catalogue. A letter titled “Damaged Book Notice” will be issued requesting payment for the item.
