St Andrews Sensory Garden

As you will have noticed, the new Sensory Garden near the K-2 Cola is now open to everyone. This space has been designed to be used by all the children. It includes play pits around the edges, different textures in the paths, a bridge, a noughts and crosses area, stepping stones, car tracks, a citrus area and seating. There is also a section of garden boxes. These include a touch garden, a sight garden and a scent garden. The three boxes that are as yet unplanted are for individual classes to plant as required.

There are still a number of things to be added to the garden. These will be explained to the children as they are incorporated.

Please feel free to visit the garden with your children before and after school but also please remember that the garden area, and especially our plants, need to be looked after. Please enter and leave by the designated areas and supervise your children and toddlers when they are using these spaces. All children are required to walk when in the garden.

Many thanks to all those involved in and still working on planning, setting up and maintaining the garden, including Mr Batty, Mr Divine, Mr Martino, Mrs Martino, Mrs Hesse, Mr Hesse, Mrs Boyles, Mrs McNeill, Mrs Bass and Miss Bond. Enjoy everyone!
